If you are in any type of leadership role, you know that everyone needs the right kind of support in order to keep their enthusiasm levels high. Even the most gung-ho, focused, go getter does better when they receive the right kind of motivating support. Though everyone has different priorities, most people will be most motivated by a few of the following list of 10.
This list comes from the research of author Richard Florida who polled twenty thousand professionals involved in what we would consider “creative” work . Mr. Florida gave them a choice of 38 factors to choose from regarding what most motivated them to do their best work. Here are his results:
- Challenge and responsibility
- A stable work environment
- Professional development
- Peer recognition
- Stimulating colleagues and bosses
- Exciting job content
- Organizational culture
- Location and community
I can pretty much guarantee that at least 3 of those are BIG motivators in your own life and the lives of those you lead.
Why not use this list to talk with your team and make adjustments to your areas of leadership responsibility?
